Local Connections

Our children are welcomed to nearby Maromahue and Kutarere Marae for class visits and overnight stays. The school and the marae have long standing links. The children connect with the local tangata whenua to learn of the special nature of the local area.

Our annual Gala Day, Agricultural Day and sporting events are big days for the whole Waiotahe community.

Parents are very welcome to join in our learning community. You could, for example, become a class helper and work with children on a project around school; help coach sports teams; be a camp helper or join our Fundraising Committee.

We encourage your participation in school life.

WHO Group (Waiotahe Helpers Organisation)

All parents and staff are encouraged to join in. The WHO Group has replaced what was known as the PTA. 'Meetings' are very informal and are a great way to get to know other parents. We meet most months as the need arises. Coming to a meeting doesn't mean you will end up with a job - it gives you the chance to have a say on how we raise and spend money for our children and school. We'd love you to join us!

And through fundraising we've been able to:
  •  Build an awesome adventure playground.
  •  Run our swimming pool over summer holidays and install solar heating.
  •  Purchase sports gear, library books and classroom items.
  •  Purchase Chrome books and Library Books.
  •  Fund a Kapa Haka tutor and much more!
